
Home Support Worker (HSW) Fundamentals Course
This 8-week foundational course is designed for individuals with no prior healthcare experience who are looking to enter the home care and support industry. It provides essential caregiving skills focused on personal care, companionship, household management, and client safety, without involving clinical or medical training.
Admission Requirements:
✔ Minimum CLB English level 4 (to ensure clear and safe communication)
✔ Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
✔ Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate (Required prior to or during the course – not included in this course)

In-person lectures and hands-on training scheduled with the instructor

What You’ll Learn:
✔ The Role of a Home Support Worker – Understanding non-medical care duties
✔ Personal Care Assistance – Bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene
✔ Companionship Skills – Social interaction and emotional support
✔ Household Management – Meal prep, light cleaning, laundry, and errands
✔ Client Safety – Fall prevention, safe mobility, and basic emergency response
✔ Working with Families – Communicating respectfully and supporting care routines
This course focuses on non-medical home care services and does not include clinical or healthcare procedures.
