Wound Care, Infection Control, & Hygiene Course
This 4–8 week foundational training is designed for caregivers, home support workers, and healthcare aides who provide direct care in home, community, or facility settings. The course equips participants with essential knowledge and hands-on skills to manage wounds, prevent infections, and uphold high standards of personal hygiene and safety.
Admission Requirements:
✔ Minimum CLB English level 4
✔ Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
✔ Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate (Required prior to or during the course)
Course Overview:
✔ Wound Care Basics – Assessing wounds, understanding healing stages, and applying simple dressings
✔ Infection Control Practices – Proper use of PPE, hand hygiene, and environmental sanitation
✔ Client Hygiene & Dignity – Supporting safe bathing, grooming, toileting, and personal care
✔ Preventing Cross-Contamination – Best practices for reducing infection risk in shared spaces
✔ Hands-On Practice – Supervised exercises and demonstrations for real-life application
✔ Self-Paced Learning – Core theory available on Teachable to support flexible learning
Course Structure:
Duration: 4–8 weeks (must be completed within 2 months)
Theory Modules: Available 24/7 on Teachable
In-person sessions & hands-on training: Scheduled with the instructor
