Fall Prevention Training
This 3-day, practical training is designed for individuals who have completed the PSW Refresher Course or Home Support Worker (HSW) Course. The training focuses on fall risk assessment, injury prevention strategies, and safe support techniques to assist clients—especially seniors or individuals with limited mobility—during daily care routines.
Prerequisites:
✔ Completion of the PSW Refresher Course or Home Support Worker Course
✔ Minimum CLB English level 4
✔ Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
✔ Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate (Required prior to or during the course)
Course Overview:
✔ Fall Risk Identification – Recognize environmental and physical fall risks in the home and care settings
✔ Prevention Strategies – Implement simple but effective fall prevention plans
✔ Mobility Support Techniques – Assist clients with walking, transfers, and balance safely
✔ Emergency Fall Response – Learn what to do if a fall occurs
✔ Client & Caregiver Safety – Reduce injury risk through proper techniques and body mechanics
✔ Hands-On Practice – Apply skills through guided exercises and supervised demonstrations
